Woman charged over Redcliffs crash

Court House-Sept-2013-06A Sumner woman has been remanded on a charge of drink-driving causing injury after a crash at Redcliffs in which a pedestrian was struck and knocked onto rocks.

Sarah Jane Arrow, 45, was given at registrar’s remand at the Christchurch District Court without having to appear before a judge.

She is next due to appear at court on May 13, and has been remanded on bail to get legal advice.

The charge alleges that she drove on Main Road, Redcliffs, on March 25 and caused injury to a man while having 1009mcg of alcohol to a litre of breath.

The legal limit for a traffic offence is 250mcg, but the limit that triggers prosecution at court is 400mcg.

Police alleged that the car crashed into pedestrians on the footpath about 2.10pm after failing to take a corner correctly.

The impact knocked one man over the edge of the walkway onto rocks below.
