$80 Ashburton robbery admitted
A knife-wielding man demanded $80 from the lone attendant at an Ashburton service station, and told her it was to pay a bill after an automatic teller transaction failed.
Thirty-year-old Jason Ross Ford pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated robbery, one of burglary, and one of theft in the Christchurch District Court today.
On May 13 Ford tried using an eft-pos machine in the Mobil station but the transaction was declined. He presented the knife to his victim, took the $80, and left the station on foot.
In April he drove away from Z Energy in Tinwald without paying for $50 fuel, and on May 5 he burgled a home and took jewellery, alcohol, and computer equipment.
Judge Paul Kellar read Ford the first of the three strike warnings for repeat violent offenders, and remanded him in custody for a restorative justice meeting, and pre-sentence report. He will be sentenced on July 27.
