A man who police allege shot and wounded a mother and daughter, and robbed hotels while armed, has had five new charges laid against him in the Christchurch District Court.
The 23-year-old has interim name suppression and now faces two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, two charges of presenting a firearm at a person, and six charges of aggravated robbery.
The man was arrested at the Rakaia Huts after the alleged shooting of the women on April 19 in Rolleston, and was remanded in custody.
It is alleged he was armed with a shotgun when he held up the Harewood Tavern on March 10, Brickworks Bar and Restaurant on March 14, Trevinos Restaurant and Bar on March 24, the Brickworks again on March 29, Springston Hotel on April 6, and Ashburton Hotel on April 19.
Defence counsel Jonathan Eaton QC said he had ordered a psychiatric report for the man.
Judge Jane Farish remanded him in custody to appear again on June 12, and said he had to enter pleas on that date.
