A murder trial for a 23-year-old Christchurch woman charged with stabbing a man to death on Christmas Day has been set for March 2018.
The date for the one-to-two week trial for Franchesca Kororia Borell was set by Justice Gerald Nation in the High Court at Christchurch today.
He remanded Borell in custody to the start of the trial on March 19.
Borell is charged with the murder of 25-year-old Hardeep Singh, who was allegedly stabbed in an incident in Cashmere Road. He died in hospital two days later on December 27, 2016.
Borell, who initially had name suppression, was originally charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, but the charge was increased to murder after Mr Singh’s death. The name suppression order was lifted in February.
Barnaby Hawes appeared for the Crown at today’s pre-trial call-over, and Colin Eason appeared for Borell.
