Cannabis growing charge
A Bishopdale man has been charged with cultivating cannabis after firefighters were called to a Stanmore Road property because water was coming out of the house.
After the inspection about 7.40pm on Sunday night, police found what they called a “large scale cannabis grow” at the house.
Thirty-two-year-old Nari I-Yuan Chou, a bar manager, was then arrested and released on police bail to appear at the Christchurch District Court today.
He was granted a registrar’s remand which meant he did not need to appear in court. The registrar remanded for a further appearance on October 26.
He was remanded on bail without plea on the charge of cultivating a prohibited plant.
