A 52-year-old man charged with sexual violation at a dance school made no application for release on bail when he appeared in the Christchurch District Court today.
Tangapiri Teikamata, of Cashmere, entered no plea to the charge which alleges a sexual assault in 2015.
Judge Stephen O’Driscoll granted the police request for the name of the dance school to be given interim suppression.
Police alleged that the man was giving massages at the school when the offence occurred.
At the request of defence counsel Steve Hembrow, Judge O’Driscoll remanded Teikamata to April 12 for an appearance by video-link from the prison where he will be held on remand.
