Courts closed by staff strike

Christchurch’s Justice Precinct was closed for the morning on Wednesday with court staff walking off the job for a two-hour strike in support of a wage claim.

An early sitting handled overnight arrests but other scheduled sittings did not go ahead because of the strike beginning at 10.30am.

The building was closed from that time, and was to reopen for the afternoon sessions scheduled for 2.15pm.
