Brothers face Greymouth assault charges

Two brothers facing assault charges involving three alleged victims, arising from an incident in Greymouth on Sunday, have appeared in the Christchurch District Court.

Ethan Campbell, 19, of Blaketown, is charged with assaulting three men, and Ace Campbell, 18, of Greymouth, is charged with assaulting one of the same men.

Both men face joint charges of assaulting one of the same men with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Ethan Campbell applied for bail but it was refused and he was remanded without plea to appear in Greymouth District Court on November 7.

Ace Campbell was granted bail and was remanded to the same date in Greymouth. He will have to abide by a night time curfew and submit to alcohol screening tests as required.

Police said six people were hospitalised, one with serious injuries, after the alleged incident in Arnott Heights about 3.30am on Sunday.
