No bail was sought for a 24-year-old Addington man when he appeared in the Christchurch District Court on four charges a day after a crash in Edgeware.
Kawharu Rangipoua Kingi Koopu, entered no pleas to the charges of receiving a stolen Nissan Tiida car, resisting a police officer, and escaping from lawful custody. He is also charged with receiving a stolen laptop last month.
Defence counsel Natalie Wham said police opposed bail and no bail application was being made at present.
Judge Tom Gilbert remanded him in custody to appear by video-link at court on March 22, when he will be required to enter pleas, and a bail application may be made.
The charges arise from a two-car crash in Edgeware about 6.15am on Wednesday. Police said both drivers were injured.
