Teen elects trial on mosque video charge

A teenager charged with offending relating to the mosque shooting video has pleaded not guilty and elected trial by jury at the Christchurch District Court.

The 18-year-old has continued name suppression, after a court registrar recorded his not guilty pleas to two charges today and remanded him on bail for a Crown case review on June 26.

He denies charges of possessing the objectionable video posted online by the mosque shooter, and threatening behaviour likely to incite violence 12 days after the March 15 shootings which killed 51 people at two Christchurch mosques.

He was granted electronically monitored bail on April 24, which included conditions banning him from associating with other people charged, supervised internet use by his mother or father, and not to go within 200 metres of a mosque, church, or other place of worship.
