$91,000 fraud sentencing

District Court sentencing scheduled for 2.15pm for Kim Michael David Barwell, 52, a labourer, who has admitted 6o charges of obtaining money by deception. All but one charge refer to him obtaining money totalling $91,000 as “cash loans” from an 82-year-old Christchurch man. Barwell claimed he had made arrangements to repay the money in weekly instalments. He entered guilty pleas shortly before his scheduled trial in January.
