High Court jury trials are usually scheduled for the two jury courts on level four of the Court House. District Court jury trials are held in the courts on level two.

Paul James Bennett appearance

Appearance in the District Court for Paul James Bennett, 53, who was arrested on May 13, 2016, on his arrival at Christchurch International Airport after his deportation from Australia. He appeared in court next day facing 48 charges — 28 charges of dishonestly using documents or obtaining funds, 10 of forgery, five of theft, 3 of supplying a girl aged 15 with the class B drug Ecstasy, and two of indecently assaulting the same girl. There was no application for bail and he was remanded in custody. Bennett also faced charges laid later of piloting a helicopter without a pilot’s licence and without a current medical certificate.
