High Court jury trials are usually scheduled for the two jury courts on level four of the Court House. District Court jury trials are held in the courts on level two.

Sentencing in the High Court at 9.15am before Justice Gerald Nation, for Akuhatua Tihi, 23, who was found guilty at a two-week trial of the murder of Benton Marni Parata, 44, who was bashed in his cell at Christchurch Men’s Prison and died in hospital of head injuries. Also, sentencing for Levi Hohepa Reuben, 21, and Steven Betham, 37, who were found guilty of manslaughter.
