District Court sentencing for 17-year-old Rahiri Tai, of Flaxton, who has admitted a drunken attack on two tourists visiting from Europe, in which he robbed them of their rental car as they arrived at a Riccarton Road motel early on January 9, 2017. Tai crashed the car at the Sockburn round-about a few minutes after it was taken. He was remanded on bail for sentencing after his guilty plea on February 3, 2017. Defence counsel is Ruth Harcourt.
