A man was handcuffed and taken into custody after a noisy altercation at the Christchurch Court House offices this morning.
Shortly before 10am at the Collections Department counter, it is understood the man was abusive and was asked to leave the building.
During the struggle that followed his refusal, he was forced to the floor and handcuffed while being held by three police and three court security officers.
He was then frog-marched to the cells still swearing loudly and taking exception to the number of law enforcement officers arrayed against him.
It is understood he may not be charged but may be released after a ?cooling-off? period in the cells.
