The High Court may look for an earlier date for the trial of Dean Stewart Cameron for the alleged murder of Marie Davis, after a September date was set at a pre-trial conference today.
Justice Graham Panckhurst said he would discuss the matter with court staff with a view to an earlier date being found.
The trial is set to last four weeks, with 71 crown witnesses. Cameron, a 38-year-old road worker, is charged with murdering and sexually violating the 15-year-old Papanui schoolgirl on or about April 6, 2008.
The present trial date is September 7, 2009.
