Woman denies cash snatch from pub

A woman charged with a $10,000 cash snatch from a suburban pub is denying the charge and heading for a defended hearing.

Jacqueline Anita Owenjones, 44 and unemployed, indicated the not guilty plea at a registrar?s remand in the Christchurch District Court offices this morning.

The registrar granted her a remand to June 8 for registrar?s status hearing session, when arrangements may be made for the case to be heard.

It was not necessary for her to appear before a judge today.

Owenjones is charged with stealing the bag of cash which had been prepared for banking by Robbie?s Bar and Bistro at Church Corner, Upper Riccarton, on March 25, when police allege she briefly entered the hotel?s office while it was unattended.
