Accountant faces dishonesty allegations

A self-employed accountant has been granted interim suppression of name on eight dishonesty charges, at an appearance in the Christchurch District Court today.

The 55-year-old man was remanded on bail to June 11, with the suppression order granted till a week after that appearance.

Judge Gary MacAskill told defence counsel Bryan Green that the grounds for the name suppression would need to be presented to the court at the next appearance and re-argued.

The man faces two charges of causing a loss of a total of $8000 by deception and six charges of dishonestly using documents.

He was remanded without plea.
