Biting accused further remanded for psych report

Another two-week remand has been granted for a psychiatric report to be completed for a man charged with disfiguring a doctor by biting off part of his ear.

Samasoni Maka, 42, was arrested when members of the public allegedly detained him after an incident at a Waltham medical centre on March 25.

He has not yet appeared in court having spent the time on remand as a patient under mental health care at Hillmorton Hospital.

Defence counsel Glenn Henderson asked for the further remand to June 4 for the second psychiatric report on Maka to be completed.
