Mark Peter Ransfield, chief executive of a Canterbury computer software and service provider, is in custody after admitting indecencies on a young girl.
He has had interim suppression of name until his appearance at the Christchurch District Court at Nga Hau e Wha marae today when he pleaded guilty to three charges.
They involved doing an indecent act, indecent assault, and having unlawful sexual connection with the girl.
Judge Phillip Moran refused to continue the name suppression when Ransfield entered the pleas and remanded him in custody for sentencing at Rangiora on September 30. He asked the Probation Service to prepare a pre-sentence report.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Lisa Goodson said Ransfield admitted the offending and gave no explanation when he was interviewed after the girl told her school teacher what had happened.
He told police he was ?relieved it was over?.
