Snow halts Christchurch court sittings

Christchurch?s courts will be running only essential services today because of the snowstorm.

The only court sitting will take place in the watch house at the Christchurch Central Police station to handle arrest cases which need to be brought before a judge to decide issues such as bail.

The time for this session is still to be decided.

People remanded on bail or summoned to appear today should not go to the various venues around the city. They will be contacted by Ministry of Justice staff and given new dates.
