Drink-driver judges judge

A repeat drink-driver has got himself into the judge?s good books with a pleasant parting shot at his Christchurch District Court sentencing in Rangiora.

The man had admitted at least his third drink-driving charge and faced heavier penalties because of the repeat offending.

He didn?t have a lawyer and spoke for himself.

When the Judge Michael Crosbie indicated he would impose seven months of home detention and 18 months driving disqualification, the offender told him, ?You are not a bad judge ? been good to me.?

?Thank you,? Judge Crosbie replied. ?I am sure Mrs Clarkson has written that down, and I will play back the recording whenever I need to.?
