Hearing date set in judge assault case

A hearing on November 2 in Ashburton will start the process of considering whether there should be a discharge on mental health grounds for a man charged with assaulting a Christchurch judge.

Muhammad Tanvir, 26, has not yet pleaded to charges of assaulting Christchurch District Court Judge Jackie Moran, and a man, at a hearing under the Mental Health Act on July 20.

The case was called at the Rangiora Court House for the hearing date to be set today, without Tanvir?s appearance while he remains under care at Hillmorton Hospital.
