Further remand on murder charge
A six-week remand in custody has been granted to a 54-year-old man charged with murder over the death of Bronwyn Mary Sadler, 47, at a house in Cobham Street, Spreydon, on September 27.
The man has been granted name suppression from his earlier appearances when he was remanded in custody for a psychiatric assessment.
He was due to appear in a Christchurch District Court session at the Rangiora Court House today but his appearance was excused while he continues undergoing mental health assessment at Hillmorton Hospital.
The hearing was transferred at the request of defence counsel Craig Ruane to the Nga Hau e Wha marae in Aranui where a judge granted a remand to December 6 at Rangiora for the next court appearance.
