A 22-year-old Northcote man has been charged with escaping from Christchurch Men?s Prison.
Dominic Jossy Grace, a labourer, appeared in Christchurch District Court facing seven charges today, and admitted four of them.
He pleaded guilty to three charges of assaults on women and one charge of wilful damage.
He has not yet entered pleas to charges of escaping from the prison on August 28, failing to report to court while released on bail, and breach of a community work sentence.
At the request of defence counsel Peter Doody, Judge Phil Gittos remanded Grace in custody for sentence on the four charges to October 11 and ordered a pre-sentence report to consider his suitability for home detention.
The other three charges will be recalled on September 25, for pleas to be entered.
