Both cars were damaged, and reparation is being sought for damage to the road and road signs.

At the Rangiora District Court sitting at Nga Hau e Wha marae Judge Oke Blaikie remanded Patel on bail to October 19 for sentence, and ordered a pre-sentence report and reparation report.

The accident happened on August 16. When police attended, they found Patel incoherent, and not seeming to comprehend anything.

The 34-year-old?s results showed he was more than five times the legal limit with 406 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The limit is 80mg.
