Tagger in court over breach

A serious tagger?s efforts to ?prove? himself before sentencing in March have suffered a setback, and he?s been back in court for breaching his bail conditions by drinking alcohol.

Eighteen-year-old Tama Hoani Robinson?s intentional damage sentencing for tagging his ?dtek? graffiti more than 100 times, mainly in Aranui and Wainoni was put off on December 6.

The young beneficiary was remanded on bail to give him a chance to complete a course he is doing at the Avonmore Academy, and to save money for a payment towards the $2450 damage he did.

Christchurch District Court Judge Jane Farish said he needed a change of attitude before his sentencing and refused to relax the bail curfew that keeps him home every night. She said he needed prove he was responsible enough to have more freedom.

He was back in court on Friday before Judge Paul Kellar, after the police picked him up for drinking in breach of another bail condition. With the agreement of the Crown, Judge Kellar released him on bail again but the breach has been certified and will appear on his record.
