Farm worker faces list of assault charges

A 34-year-old Swannanoa farm worker is staying in custody after appearing in the Christchurch District Court charged with a series of serious assaults.

Police allege Daniel Laws assaulted a woman three times, threatened to kill three police officers, assaulted one police officer, threatened to kill another man, injured that man, and wounded him, and assaulted a four year old twice.

The alleged incidents occurred on January 5 in Rangiora.??????????????????

Laws appeared in court with a swollen black eye, and his defence counsel, Michael Starling, said Laws had no bail address to go to.

Judge Noel Walsh remanded Laws in custody to January10.
