A woman who did the driving for two men involved in a late-night home invasion in Northcote has been sentenced to a community-based sentence, days after the two main offenders received long jail terms.
Twenty-two-year-old Sara Louise Murcott had pleaded guilty to the aggravated robbery charge arising from a an incident in which men armed with a shotgun and a knife burst into a home where a mother and two children were sleeping on October 2.
The mother struggled with the man with the shotgun inside the house and later when he chased her out into the street.
Two shots were fired from the shotgun inside the house, and the incident ended when the offender with a firearm was found nearby and brought down by a police dog after confronting an officer.
On Friday, James Carpenter, 30, was jailed for 11 years for armed robbery and presenting the firearm.
His younger co-offender, 22-year-old Sarn Alexander Kahui, was jailed for six years for armed robbery.
Murcott was sentenced in Christchurch District Court yesterday, after admitting driving the men to the address, and driving Kahui away afterwards.
She will be on home detention for five months and she must complete 250 hours of community work.
