By David Clarkson. Two men alleged to have attacked another man by pouring petrol over him and setting him alight have been remanded in custody at the Christchurch District Court.
Police alleged the attack on?the man?took place on April 25, in Christchurch. He is in hospital with serious injuries.
Shay Barry Webster, 20, of Waltham, and Jason Alistor Barr, 42, an unemployed Woolston man, are jointly charged with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Smith.
Duty lawyer Jeff McCall asked for both men to be remanded to May 3 for legal aid applications to be processed for them.
Mr McCall said there was going to be no application for the men?s release on bail today when they appeared before Judge Gary MacAskill.
