October date suggested for Reid murder trial

A date in October is being considered for the trial of Liam James Reid for the murder of 20-year-old Emma Louise Agnew last November.

The October 6 date was discussed at a pre-trial callover session before Justice Graham Panckhurst in the High Court at Christchurch today.

Much of the detail of the session was suppressed at the request of defence counsel David Bunce.

The court has set aside August 13 to hear a series of pre-trial arguments for Reid, a 35-year-old Christchurch man, who remains in custody.

The body of Miss Agnew, who was profoundly deaf, was found near Spencer Park about 12 days after her disappearance.
