A man accused of a drive-by shooting in Christchurch on Waitangi Day will be held in custody till his next court appearance, a pre-trial conference on July 4.
Daniel Robert McKenzie, 25, of Sydenham, had made a new application for bail after it was first refused on April 4.
The renewed application was declined at a hearing before Christchurch District Court Judge Michael Crosbie today, and McKenzie will remain in custody.
Gang tensions were evident in court when he and his 30-year-old brother Christopher Allan McKenzie, also of Sydenham, made their first court appearance on February 13.
Christopher McKenzie has made no new bid for bail and remains in custody for the July 4 appearance.
Both are charged with discharging a firearm at a woman on Waitangi Day with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
