‘No crimes were committed’

Court House-Sept-2013-07At the end of a particularly difficult Christchurch District Court trial concerning child abuse, the counsel and judge were exchanging thanks for the negotiations and discussions that brought it to an early end.

Judge Paul Kellar had told the jury that the trial was “as difficult as it gets in terms of subject matter”.

But he commented that the difficulties of running the trial had been nothing compared to the problems that arose when he was moving house the previous weekend, starting with the removers arriving five hours late.

He added: “No crimes were committed.”
