Man to defend charges over stolen vehicles

Court House-general2A man facing charges over an alleged stolen car “chop shop” has indicated he will plead not guilty.

Dean Walter Louis, 27, a farm hand, faces three charges that were laid by police for an appearance at the Christchurch District Court today, and it appears some may replace earlier charges.

The Yaldhurst man, who was charged after police searched D L Dismantlers on Yaldhurst Road on August 22, was granted a registrar’s remand to November 4 for a case review hearing ahead of trial.

He is now jointly charged with two other people with receiving a $40,000 Toyota Hilux, a $4500 Nissan Terrano, and a $10,000 Yamaha jetski and being reckless about whether they had been stolen.

He had earlier been charged with receiving a jetski an
d stealing the Hilux.
