Man denies ‘petrol scam’ offences
A man accused of carrying out 10 “petrol scam” offences is denying the charges and has been remanded on bail for a case review hearing in February.
Kim Michael David Barwell, 48, denies all the charges of causing a loss by deception, and was remanded by a registrar at the Christchurch District Court to February 11.
Barwell was arrested last month. Police allege he has used various excuses to ask people for petrol so that he could get home. The charges list amounts ranging from $20 and $200, with offence dates from August 25 to October 19.
