March date set for Jesse Ryder injury trial
A trial date in March 2015 has been set for the man charged with injuring cricket international Jesse Ryder in an incident in Merivale, Christchurch – almost two years after the charge was laid.
The week of March 2 was set for a jury trial in the Christchurch District Court, for the 38-year-old builder, who has interim name suppression.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charge of injuring Ryder with reckless disregard for his safety.
The man is represented by Jonathan Eaton QC as defence counsel.
The Crown will allege Ryder received the head injury in the incident that began at Aikmans Bar, Merivale, early on March 28, 2013, and ended with injury being inflicted outside in a carpark.
