Police logo-04Five men have been charged with the rape of a woman in North Canterbury on the same day several months ago.

Four of them were listed for appearances in the Christchurch District Court today. Three were remanded without plea to appear again on November 11, and the fourth indicated a not guilty plea and was remanded to a case review hearing in December.

Troy Matua James McIver, a 20-year-old rigger from Rangiora, Brook Sebastian Norris, a 21-year-old landscape gardener from Brooklands, and Ky Robert Reginald Reid, a 20-year-old logging contractor, were all remanded without plea to appear again on November 11.

Isaac Jason Mould, 20, from Woodend, was given a remand on bail by a registrar to a case review hearing on December 22.

The last defendant was being dealt with separately and has already appeared in court. Judge John Strettell remanded all three who appeared in court on bail with a condition that they not drink alcohol.

Andrew McKenzie, defence counsel for Reid, said Reid had been charged as a party to rape, and would defend the charge.
