Driver charged over ambulance crash
A young driver who allegedly wrote-off an ambulance when she was driving unsupervised on a learner licence, was given a registrar’s remand at the Christchurch District Court today. Seventeen-year-old Wensday Narda Isobella Solomon, a farmhand from Woolston, has been charged with dangerous driving, and driving with excess blood alcohol. Police allege the blood alcohol level was 168mg of alcohol to 100ml of blood. The legal adult level is 80mg. Police say she crashed into the ambulance near the intersection of Oxford Road and Merton Road, west of Rangiora, on October 3. She was remanded on bail without plea to appear in court again on December 4.
