Court House-Sept-2013-05A man listed as having “no fixed abode” appeared in court today charged with the theft of a rucksack and its contents valued at $1700 from Cafe Valentino.

Nathan James Wix, 37, appeared by video-link from the Christchurch Men’s prison and did not enter a plea to the charges he faces, including that theft allegation, theft by a person in a special relationship, interfering with a car, and possessing tools for taking a car.

Christchurch District Court Judge David Saunders remanded Wix in custody to appear on April 30.

Wix was arrested after Cafe Valentino’s owner posted CCTV footage on Facebook showing a  man walking through the restaurant’s back door and leaving with the chef’s bag.

He also passed the video footage to the police with his theft complaint.
