Court House-Sept-2013-06A tenth man has been arrested over the kidnapping and bashing of a man in an alleged gang incident at the weekend.

Peter Damian Gilbert, 45, a concrete worker from Ouruhia near Christchurch, made a brief appearance before Judge Tony Couch in the Christchurch District Court today.

The judge remanded him in custody to appear again by video-link from the prison on August 31, the same remand date for the other nine men who appeared in court on Monday.

Gilbert faces the same two charges as the others: Kidnapping 34-year-old Dallington man Dawson Reihana on Saturday and intentionally causing him grievous bodily harm.

Nine men were arrested on Sunday after Armed Offender Squad officers searched properties in Ajax Street, Shirley, and Bowenvale Avenue, Cashmere.

Reihana was badly injured and hospitalised after the bashing.

No bail applications have been made for any of the men and they remain in custody.
