Home invasion robbery alleged
An aggravated robbery charge has been laid against a 21-year-old Kaiapoi man over an alleged home invasion incident in which a man was injured at Oxford in June.
The new charge was laid when Eli Wiremu Williams, employed as an assistant, appeared before Judge Jane McMeeken in the Christchurch District Court today.
Police then withdrew the two charges they had previously laid over the incident – burglary of a house, and intentionally causing grievous bodily harm.
It is now alleged that he was with another man when he robbed a man of property including televisions, entertainment equipment, and a computer hard drive.
He was remanded on continued bail to September 11, for defence counsel to be assigned. He has entered no plea.
