16 commercial burglaries admitted
A Mairehau man has pleaded guilty to 16 of 39 charges of burglary of small businesses all over Christchurch and Kaiapoi, in the Christchurch District Court.
Andrew Wayne Smith, a 48-year-old labourer, admitted the charges relating to burglaries in June, July and early August.
The premises he burgled included bakeries, Oil Changers, restaurants, and a hairdresser.
He pleaded not guilty to 23 other charges of burglary and was remanded in custody to a case review hearing on November 16 by Judge Stephen O’Driscoll. No sentencing date has yet been set for the charges he has admitted.
