Court House-Sept-2013-06A Teddington man has admitted unlawfully taking a $34,000 motorcycle but denies three stabbings that took place in an incident at a property in Johns Road, near Christchurch, in late August.

Nicholas Andrew Hanson, 29, admitted taking the motorcycle in an incident on October 8 when concerned residents contacted the police when they saw him pushing the machine along a residential street in Christchurch.

He also admitted unlawful possession of a .22rifle and 34 rounds of ammunition, when he made an appearance by video-link from the prison, before Judge Tony Couch in the Christchurch District Court.

He is the third person to deny the charges of wounding three people – two men and a woman – with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. That incident took place on August 30.

Judge Couch remanded him in custody for a case review on November 9, along with the other two people who have already pleaded not guilty. All three have elected a judge-alone trial.

The charges Hanson has admitted have been remanded to the same date and no sentencing date has been set.

He also admits two charges of breaching his bail.

Separate charges of assaulting a woman and child will be called in Greymouth for a case review on December 15, but Hanson will not have to attend. He has pleaded not guilty and elected a judge-alone trial.
