Court House-doorwayBail has been refused for James Stedman Roberts, who is accused of murdering five-year-old autistic Christchurch boy Leon Michael leFleming Jayet-Cole.

The refusal was announced today in a reserved decision by Justice Paul Heath who heard the application in the High Court at Christchurch last week.

Roberts, the boy’s stepfather, is a 47-year-old labourer from Redwood.

He denies the charge of murdering Leon on May 27, at Christchurch. Leon was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries that day and died two days later.

Roberts is now remanded to a pre-trial call-over in the High Court on November 27.
