A 17-year-old charged with the murder of an 87-year-old man at a house in Upper Riccarton will face trial in the High Court at Christchurch on August 22.
The trial date for Taniela Kotoitoga Waitokia was set at a pre-trial call-over before Justice Cameron Mander in the High Court today.
Name suppression on the teenager, who originally appeared in the Youth Court, was lifted at a court appearance in October.
Waitokia was aged 16 at the time of his arrest in August. He denies the murder of Harold Richardson, whose body was found at his home in Owens Terrace, Upper Riccarton, on August 2.
In the meantime, Waitokia has been remanded in custody for another pre-trial call-over on February 26.
