An Oxford man has been remanded in custody on a charge relating to a shooting at a Yaldhurst property last month.
David John Hunter, 36, a contractor, made no application for release on bail at a brief appearance before Judge John Strettell in the Christchurch District Court today.
At the request of duty lawyer Kiran Paima, Judge Strettell remanded Hunter in custody to Wednesday so that a lawyer could be assigned and a possible bail application could be prepared.
Hunter is charged that on July 13, he discharged a firearm at Dean Walter Louis with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Louis was shot in the thigh and was dropped at Christchurch Hospital about 9.30pm.
The incident had taken place on a property where Louis lived, and where two firearms were found during a police search on April 6.
Hunter was not arrested until today. No plea has been entered.
