Adrenaline charge dropped

Police have dropped a Medicines Act charge involving adrenaline against a Christchurch first aider.

The man had been arrested in October and charged with possession of a restricted medicine.

It was alleged he had used a pre-hospital emergency care certificate to obtain the adrenaline.

Police said at the time he had shown a pharmacist his certificate to obtain the drug, which was more than one percent adrenaline and classified as a prescription medicine.

The man denied the charge and the case was remanded to a case review hearing at the Christchurch District Court today, where police prosecutor Aja Trinder sought permission for the charge to be withdrawn, without explanation.

The withdrawal was granted by Judge Jane Farish.

The man had name suppression during the court process.
