Name suppression continues for a well known Christchurch professional man who has been remanded in custody again when he made his second appearance after his arrest on firearms and drugs charges last weekend.
The man, 42, applied for bail before Judge Josephine Bouchier in the Christchurch District Court after he was remanded in custody at an initial appearance on Saturday.
He faces eight charges, including possession of cannabis, a utensil for smoking methamphetamine, a shotgun, ammunition and an offensive weapon – a knuckle duster.
He has also been charged with resisting a police constable, breaching a protection order, and breaching the Search and Surveillance Act.
Judge Bouchier heard submissions on Thursday and decided he would remain in custody for an application for release on electronically monitored bail which will take place on June 22, with the man in court in
Christchurch and the judge appearing by video-link from Auckland.
Apart from the bail application, the man has indicated not guilty pleas and has been remanded to a case review hearing on August 2.
