Theft and receiving of tools admitted
A Hoon Hay man has admitted stealing and receiving stolen tools worth $120,000.
Jason Francis Robb, 30, pleaded guilty to a total of 35 charges at an appearance by video-link from the prison, at the Christchurch District Court today.
Robb remains in custody for sentencing on June 11. Judge Noel Walsh ordered a pre-sentence report which will also consider his suitability for home detention.
Defence counsel Moana Cole asked for the guilty pleas to be recorded, but no convictions to be entered, so that Robb will stay in a remand wing and complete the last two weeks of an engineering course he has done while in prison. Judge Walsh agreed to that.
Police arrested Robb in late March after a search in Christchurch recovered $120,000 worth of stolen tools.
He has now pleaded guilty to 24 charges of thefts from cars, seven charges of receiving stolen property, one of burglary, possession of tools for using drugs, cultivating cannabis, and dangerous driving.
