Court House-07Police opposed bail for a 19-year-old Linwood man who was charged with robbery at the Christchurch District Court today.

Duty lawyer Phillip Allan said no bail application would be made for Anthony John Wheble, who is charged with robbing a man on Sunday of a backpack, headlamp, after-shave, cigarettes, and a screwdriver.

Wheble entered no plea and was remanded in custody by Judge Stan Thorburn, for legal advice to be arranged, and for a bail application to be made by his lawyer at his next appearance on August 4.

That appearance will be by video-link from Christchurch Men’s Prison.
